Description

The MGA 1600, in particular its Cabriolet version, was introduced in 1961 and embodied the best aspects of the MG brand’s tradition. This model reflects the transition from the distinctive, arched mudguards of years past to the modern, clean design of the 1960s. The “A” proved to be the most popular model that MG had built, until it was replaced by the “B”.

The prototypes landed 12th and 17th place in the 1955 Le Mans. Few cars could compete with it when it came to style. What’s more, it was practical and convenient to have a car that could drive long distances without tiring the driver out. It’s no surprise then that the “A” became one of the most sought after sports cars of its time. With its rounded mudguards, distinctive radiator grille and clean lines, this Cabriolet embodies the simple elegance of its day. Its bold shapes and timeless aesthetic make the MGA 1600 a real head-turner on the street.

Under the bonnet lies an agile 1.6-litre four-cylinder engine that gives the MG MGA 1600 its dynamic power. With a performance of 86 hp, this Cabriolet offers a thrilling ride. In homage to MG’s roots in racing, its precise steering and lightweight chassis handle every corner balletically. The spacious cockpit entices the driver to unforgettable experiences on the roads. For the driver and passengers, its simple but considered interior is a time machine back to the golden age of the roadster.

There are endless stories about enthusiastic owners who took this roadster on adventures, including racing, where the MGA 1600 put its motorsport origins on full display. With its timeless design and powerful engine, this 1961 Cabriolet is a living piece of history on wheels that offers pure driving pleasure.
