Description

The third generation of the Thunderbird Sports Roadster, built from 1961 to 1963, was sleeker and more modern. The graceful contours are perhaps reminiscent of Pininfarina curves and, who knows, the Americans might have been inspired by the Italian’s master craftsmanship when it comes to elegant design.

The Thunderbird was used as a pace car at the Indianapolis races as well as making appearances at statesman events, among many others. In an era that was shaped by glamorous film stars and pumping music, the Sports Roadster fully embodied the spirit of the American lifestyle.

Its appearances in films and on the stage made it an unforgettable part of pop culture. Even if it was primarily intended for luxury travel, it was the energy of racing that pumped through the Sport Roadster’s veins. Some brave owners dared to bring it down to the race track and demonstrate its power and manoeuvrability.

Ours is from 1963 and found its way to Switzerland sometime in the late 1970s, settling down in Goldau. It then moved to Littau in the 1980s, where a new owner took care of it for many years. The current owner purchased the car in October 2009. Restoration and maintenance work has been carried out frequently over recent years.

The 63 T-Bird is in excellent condition and a real eye-catcher. The new owner can look forward to jumping in, hitting the road and discovering a world of fun and new adventures!
