Description

Under its mighty bonnet, the Mach 1 429 C-Code Cobra Jet boasts a formidable 7.0 litre V8 engine, which delivers 375 HP and an impressive 610 Nm of torque. This tremendous performance takes the Mach 1 from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds, with a top speed of over 200 km/h. The 429 Cobra Jet engine paid homage to Ford’s involvement in motor sport and offered the incredible acceleration and performance that made it an icon of the road.

The design of the Mustang Mach 1 429 Cobra Jet is every bit as impressive as its performance. A host of new design elements were incorporated into the body from 1971, which lent the car an inimitable look, particularly with its striking bonnet. The striking front section with its aggressive radiator grille, the muscular wheel arches, and the sporty lines gave the vehicle an unmistakable presence. Then you have the eye-catching ‘Mach 1’ stripes and the shaker hood intake that protrudes through the bonnet – both of which emphasise its performance credentials and make it immediately recognisable.

In technical terms, the Mach 1 429 Cobra was ahead of its time. The vehicle has an advanced chassis construction with independent front suspension, as well as a robust rigid rear axle. The powerful disc brakes on the front wheels and the rear drum brakes ensure the kind of reliable braking that a high-performance vehicle needs. The Mustang also has a strong affinity with motor sport. Away from the roads, it enjoyed great success on the track as well and showed its mettle in various motor sport disciplines.

This very well-preserved classic vehicle, from the last generation of muscle cars, was delivered to Switzerland in 1971. The current owner (since 2019) has carried out regular maintenance on the vehicle, as well as fully refurbishing the brake system and fitting a new front windscreen, exhaust system, and new rims. The vehicle has a current MFK certificate (Swiss MOT) and benefits from registered veteran status. A rare find, which should make some muscle car enthusiast one proud new owner. This real hot number has an impressive engine sound and bags of power.
