Description

This convertible, harking back to an era defined by luxury and technical brilliance, is an embodiment of Mercedes-Benz’ heritage and continues to fascinate car enthusiasts across the world decades later. The SL 230 Pagode came as a successor to the legendary 300 SL Roadster in the early 1960s, when Mercedes-Benz was cementing its reputation as a luxury vehicle manufacturer. The Pagode should not just be seen as a technical evolution of its predecessor, but as an icon that heralded the age of modern vehicle design. The shape is a homage to classical elegance and the timeless style of the 1960s. The vehicle has a radiant, incomparable presence thanks to its characteristic pagoda design with a hardtop, clean lines and elegant detailing. The combination of style and functionality makes the Pagode SL a masterpiece of automotive engineering from its time.

A powerful 2.3-litre in-line six-cylinder engine lies under the bonnet, giving the car its impressive performance. Boasting 150 hp and 196 Nm torque, the Mercedes not only brings dynamic acceleration to the table, but also smooth handling which marries well with the vehicle’s character.

There is a rich history behind the Pagode, which is shaped by adventure, passion and countless unforgettable moments. From the picturesque coastal roads of the Côte d’Azur to the legendary California coast drives, the SL had real presence. The SL Pagode won over the hearts and minds of car enthusiasts and, in doing so, spread the high standards of car manufacture that Mercedes-Benz represents across the globe.

This car has a fascinating backstory. Having been delivered brand new to a businessman in Göppingen, Germany in 1964, the vehicle passed hands to its next owner in 1966 and was then sold in 1972 to the family that currently owns it. The second generation of this family now owns this magnificent car. All documentation is available including the original vehicle registration document. The car is in spectacular condition with its veteran vehicle status and fresh MFK (Swiss MOT).

The car was given a full paint job a few years ago – in the original colours of signal red for the body and black for the steel roof, of course. The engine, gearbox and injection pump were also overhauled only a few years ago by renowned Mercedes experts. An uncomplicated car packed with style and performance capability that will bring each owner a wealth of delight and retain its value.
